The Tower is possibly the most misunderstood card in the Tarot Deck. Often it is received with fear, resistance, and trepidation. And though, yes, it does bring with it a destructive and chaotic force, it is ultimately for our benifit and it is helping to release us from our self imposed limitations in order to free ourselves from everything that is holding us back.
The Tower is a cleansing storm. Its energy is incredible and raw. There is no hiding from this force. All we can do is hold on until it passes and wait for it to clear. When the debris has settled and we can observe what we have lost, we will see it was only the walls of our own prison that have been destroyed. Everything that we thought we knew and was important is now gone to show us that these things that we thought were keeping us safe were in fact what was stopping us from creating the life we truly want to live.
The Tower can be seen as Divine Intervention. Like a storm, we have no control over this intense energy. It comes in fast and catches us off guard. In all but a moment our whole perception of reality is destroyed, and we are left gaping at the hole in front of us. And although we might in the moment feel like we never saw it coming, the truth is we have been preparing for it for quite some time. This moment is just the final push to get us to leave our comfort zone and to face what we haven't wanted to face. The Tower is the brutal honesty we need to remined us that a life built on lies will always eventually crumble and so this moment though undesired was inevitable.
So yes, we tend not to like being confronted in this way. Nor do we like being pushed beyond where we had thought ourselves safe, even if it was an illusion. The Tower is relentless in exposing our lies, but its gift is in opening us to our real Truth. Beyond the Tower walls we find our true selves once again, stripped bare for all the world to see. With this we truly become Free. Free to live our life authentically and aligned with our truth. Free to explore and expand in ways we never allowed ourselves before. Free to be and do whatever we want because now nothing is holding us back. The Tower is a moment of uncomfortable destruction and mayhem for a lifetime of freedom. It is a gift from the Divine even if it is at first seen as a curse.
