4 of Cups - Tarot

After a time of celebration, we are encouraged to reconnect with ourselves through quiet contemplation.  Although it is more fun to be social and to celebrate, we are reminded that quiet alone time is necessary in order for us to recharge and reconnect with ourselves.  This self-care is how we ensure that we take care of our own energy in order to be able to reconnect with others.  When we are social and with others all the time, this eventually leads to burnout which can cause strain on our relationships.  It's important to remember that alone time is about us focusing on our most important relationship which is with ourselves.

The type of self-care we are asked to cultivate through this card is a quiet time of contemplation.  We are encouraged to go out to nature and to sit alone amongst the trees or near a body of water.  We need moments where we slow down and do nothing in order to feel back into ourselves.  When we find this quiet and remove distractions, we reconnect with our own energy.  This gives us the time and space to feel into our emotions and body and to listen to what needs to be heard in this space.  It might not be such an exciting way to use our time and can even feel a little bit boring, but through this quiet contemplation, we will feel renewed.

Often when we slow down, we then have a chance to listen to messages and signals that are trying to come through on an intuitive level.  When we are busy all the time, these messages are easy to miss.  However, when we slow down and give ourselves space to listen, these messages can find a way to come through.  These messages often will bring us new inspirations and ideas that we help us in moving forward.  So, if the 4 of Cups is coming up for you, the advice is to find a quite space of tranquility and patiently listen. You might be pleasantly surprised by what you hear.
