The 3 of Swords indicates a time of self-created sorrow. This energy is difficult because it requires us to be brutally honest with ourselves and see that we are holding on to truths that no longer serve us and are in fact hurting us, and it is now time to let these things go and move on. However, this can be a difficult task because it also asks for us to let go of the people, places and things that still reflect this truth back to us.
Our truth is ever evolving, and with it we are evolving the way we perceive ourselves and our reality. When we go through a significant shift in our truth, we may struggle with letting go of the old truth and all the energies attached to it. However, the 3 of Swords indicates that this suffering is only a result of our refusal to let go and reminds us that we can not stabilize a new truth when we are participating in an old truth.
At this stage of the 3 of Swords, we are sabotaging our progress through our fears, doubts, worries, judgments and criticisms. We are not allowing ourselves to move forward because we are stuck in these energies. It is likely as well that these energies are also being perpetuated through the people we are engaging with and the information we are consuming. It's almost like we want ourselves to fail at this point, and we are being asked to see that this self-sabotaging behavior is a result of us choosing to believe these fears, doubts, worries, criticisms and judgments.
This is why the 3 of Swords requires us to be brutally honest with ourselves to see that we are the ones choosing this suffering and choosing to limit ourselves through these sabotaging beliefs. We may even find that we are blaming others for these energies, but untimely we are being asked to take responsibility for our own thoughts and to see that only we can choose to not engage in these lies disguised as truths and we can only be hurt by these things if we choose to believe them.
